What is the LGPD, Brazil’s General Data Protection Act?
The General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD) is the law that establishes the rules of what companies can and cannot do with your personal data.
It is because of this that you can rest assured that all the information you share with Dock are protected through policies, processes and controls. The LGPD also guarantees you the right to control the data you provide to Dock or any other company.

All information that can identify you, such as name, CPF, email, address, among others, is treated as personal data and is protected by the LGPD.
Data processing
When we talk about processing personal data, we are talking about
any and all operations carried out with personal data, such as collection, storage, processing, use, classification, transmission, elimination, among others.

What does a Data controller do?
The person responsible for processing personal data is responsible for ensuring that the Dock adheres to all the requirements of the General Personal Data Protection Law and the best information security and privacy practices, as well as responding to requests from data subjects and the National Data Protection Authority and adopting measures, and providing guidance yours in relation to privacy and protection of personal data.
This term, widely used in privacy policies and other materials on the subject, refers to the natural person to whom the personal data that is subject to processing refers, whether this person is a customer, supplier, employee, holder of payment accounts provided by Dock or any other natural person.
Personal data, information that directly or indirectly identifies or makes it possible to identify a specific person, is divided into personal data or sensitive personal data:
• Personal data: It is any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person, that is, which directly or indirectly identifies a natural person, such as: Name, CPF, identity card number, Telephone, Address, E-mail or Date of Birth, Photographs;
• Sensitive Personal Data: It is information that may discriminate against a natural person, such as: racial or ethnic origin, religious belief, political opinion, membership of a trade union or organization of a religious, philosophical or political nature, data relating to health or sexual life, genetic or biometric data;
Legally, the processing of personal data can be carried out under different hypotheses. Are they:
• Consent of the holder of personal data;
• Compliance with legal or regulatory obligations by the controller;
• For the execution of public policies provided for in laws and regulations or supported by contracts, agreements or similar instruments, by the public administration;
• To carry out studies by a research organization, with data anonymization whenever possible;
• For the execution of a contract or preliminary procedures related to a contract to which the holder is a party, at the holder's request;
• For the regular exercise of rights in judicial, administrative or arbitration proceedings;
• To protect the life or physical safety of the holder or third parties;
• For the protection of health, within the legally established parameters;
• To meet the legitimate interests of the controller or third parties, when the fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject do not prevail; • For credit protection.
We emphasize that the Dock may process personal data both as controller and operator, depending on the situation. In all cases, the processing is carried out in strict compliance with the LGPD and the privacy policies of the Dock, with the adoption of appropriate technical-administrative measures to maintain the security and privacy of your personal data.
The processing agents are the controller and the operator:
• Controller: Natural or legal person responsible for decisions regarding the processing of personal data. The controller is the one who establishes aspects such as the purpose of the processing, the data involved in the activity and the data retention period, for example.
• Operator: Natural or legal person that processes data on behalf of the controller. Under no circumstances may the Operator use the personal data accessed during processing for its own benefit.
